They probably escaped the onslaught of meds-meds-meds-pills-pills-pills dominant in Western Medicine nowadays, too. My dad rarely drank, ate reasonably healthy food, and exercised, and yet, he's by all means gone. Dementia and Parkinson's has ravaged his body and mind and I very much blame all the needless meds he's been prescribed over his life and is still taking at the advice of his doctor.
I read something odd about dementia, maybe here on Medium, that said abstaining from all alcohol puts you at more risk for Dementia as does being a heavy drinker. I'll have to find it. It was in a list. I'll admit that I liked reading that, as I do enjoy a good margarita on occasion.
