My grandpa committed suicide. At first I was horrified by it and felt as though family had let him down but now that I see my Dad inhumanely withering away in a care facility with Dementia and Parkinson's I can see why my Grandpa did it. He didn't want to be in diapers and be cared for. He had lived a good life. My Dad doesn't know who I am most of the time. He has to be fed and is in diapers. He can't speak. If he could look in on himself he'd tell me to help go. I'm sure of this because he is such a practical man. I looked up the laws here in Oregon and the laws are only set up for terminal illnesses such as cancer. My Dad's condition does not qualify. It's really inhumane keeping him alive at this point and it hurts!
