I took care of my Pops for two summers. He has Parkinson’s and was all kinds of banged up. I hung handles along the patio cover beam and also in the Living Room so he could hang and just let gravity do it’s thing. Simply loading his muscles in that way daily had a huge impact on his posture and balance and eventually his strength as he simultaneously lost weight. Dude was doing a couple pull ups by the time he left! He’s in a senior home now and as I tour the PT room and exercise room it blows me away that there’s not a single apparatus for them to hang and pull! The experience with my Dad made me pursue my Personal Trainer Certification and I plan on working with the aging population. Pulling and hanging will be part of my programs as long as I can safely implement it. It makes sense that it’ll help battle the Senior-Hunch.
