I think this is true in our 20s and maybe 30s, but lately at age 50, I don’t feel immortal at all.

The unspoken reality is that it is ticking for each of us as well. We go along daily assuming that we are immortal, and nothing will change. The voice in our heads is the same one that we heard when we were 20.
